UPSC CSE examination is an open exam for all graduates of the country. Graduation in any discipline is the essential qualification for this exam.
Any graduate in the age group of 21-32 in general category can appear in the examination.
A general candidate can appear six times in this examination. Provided he has not been selected as an IAS officer in any of his previous attempt.
Age limit for SC and ST candidates is 37 years and number of attempts is unlimited.
For creamy layer OBC candidates, age limit and number of attempts are same as the general candidate i.e. 21-32 years of age and 6 attempts. For non-creamy layer OBC candidate, number of attempts are 9 and age limit is 35 years.

Also start following news from newspapers like THE HINDU, INDIAN EXPRESS, ECONOMIC TIMES etc. Clearing this exam requires a lot of patience. Revision is the key. Before going to standard books, make sure you are thorough with NCERTs knowledge.
